Dunbar Town House Museum and Gallery

The tower is familiar from the High Street, but a visit inside provides a closer introduction to the town. Use the museum and changing gallery displays to follow one or two local stories, with time to ask staff about the building. A tour of additional historic rooms is a separate possibility to confirm, not an automatic part of every drop-in visit.

Winter opening is very limited: the council lists Saturday afternoons only from October to March. The High Street location does not make this a museum you can enter every day.

Tickets and booking: Normal admission is free; some events charge. April–September opening is Wednesday–Sunday 13:00–17:00. October–March the council lists Saturdays 14:00–16:00, supported by local history volunteers.
Access and getting around: Most of the venue has step-free access once inside, with a lift and accessible toilets. The historic jail is reached by steps only. Check the detailed access guide and any current room restrictions before planning a tour.

Visiting with children: Choose a small number of displays or a family activity if one is scheduled. Historical rooms and research services may have different arrangements from the ordinary ground-floor gallery visit.
