For a relaxed town half-day, take the Cliff Railway, spend an hour around the summit and return for a long lunch. Add 30–45 minutes on the promenade if conditions suit. Around three hours is comfortable with queues and a meal; the shorter version is lunch and the seafront alone. Check the last descent before staying at the top, and make an evening meal a separate booking rather than assuming the café follows extended railway hours. For art and history, begin with the National Library exhibitions, take lunch and continue to the Arts Centre for a selected exhibition or performance. Allow a proper uphill journey from town and 15–25 minutes between the two venues as an editorial walking estimate. Library exhibitions close earlier than the building and the café has reduced Saturday service. An evening show needs its own transport home, not just the daytime arrival plan. The Vale of Rheidol return gives a different, slower landscape day. Budget four to five hours with boarding, a meal and the Engine Shed display. Standard-class passengers may use a later public return if available, but accessible and First Class bookings return on their original train. Check that distinction before planning a longer Devil’s Bridge stop. The waterfalls cost separately and are not necessary to make the railway visit worthwhile.
